SmartDocs isn't scanning paper with a hardware scanner — it creates a scanned-style, image-based copy of your document. This helps preserve its visual appearance and discourages casual editing, which is useful for agreements, quotations, invoices, contracts, and other important business documents. It doesn't make a document impossible to edit.
Not always — a PDF that's already compressed sometimes doesn't shrink further inside a ZIP, and can occasionally come out slightly larger. SmartDocs packages the file first, checks the real resulting size, and tells you the actual result before you attach it — if the ZIP would end up meaningfully larger, it asks you to confirm before using it. You can always attach the processed PDF directly instead.
It's on the roadmap for a future SmartDocs update, for sending large files when email attachments aren't practical. It isn't available yet, and there's no date to share. Contact us if you'd like to be notified.
